If you smell something foul coming from the Northwest, it’s just the stink of UFC 149 still wafting down from the Canadian Prairies. In the UFC’s first trip to Calgary, Alberta, Canada (Home of the legendary pro wrestling Hart dynasty, a quick pan to Bret “Hitman” Hart in the crowd was the only positive reaction to anything in the show’s final four fights), the fights bored the 16,000 in attendance at the Saddledome.  To put it plainly, Dana White himself groused “UFC 149 sucked.”

UFC 149 got off on the right foot on FX. Anton Kuivanen (17-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) prevailed in a spirited grappling match with Mitch Clarke (9-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC). Antonio Pato Carvalho (14-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC), Francisco Rivera (9-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Ryan Jimmo (17-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) all posted first-round knockouts.
